Campagnolo Super Record EPS, the feather in the cap of Campagnolo® innovation thanks to the technologies, materials and expertise behind the design of this groupset, consolidates its benchmark role by moving up to a 12-speed.
Leading the way for 8, 9, 10, and 11 speeds and, more recently, 12 speeds, Campagnolo has always been a pioneer in innovation for racing bike transmission. The recently introduced Super Record and Record mechanical drivetrains marked not only a new era in the technology of the mechanical groupset, but also made the way for what was to become the electronic version of the Super Record 12-speed groupset. EPS technology was tested on the field by cyclists and before its launch on the market, it was subjected to the usual testing by the Campy Tech Lab in the most demanding lab in the world: the World Tour.
Thanks to the critical feedback and subsequent approval from the UAE, AG2R CITROËN TEAM and Cofidis riders, Campagnolo released the new performance benchmark in electronic drivetrains. This very popular groupset, winner of the Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta, the World Championships and many other races on the World Tour circuit, is now available in a 12-speed option with its V4 version in Power Unit electronic components and interface. The groupset has been redesigned to adapt perfectly to the new 12-speed technological frontier and to the 11-29 and 11-32 cassette combinations introduced in the mechanical version. Fast shifting, always precise and effortless for the cyclist, and a very gradual gear ratio are just some of the extraordinary characteristics of the new EPS groupset, available both with Dual Pivot Super Record and with Campagnolo Direct Mount brakes. Available new options now also include an internal version in addition to the usual externally mounted interface, guaranteeing maximum integration on handlebars and frames designed for this application.

Description
The shape and functionality of the new Ergopower EPS 12-speed stem from meticulous studies carried out to guarantee the most efficient and effective ergonomics possible.
The shape of the updated brake lever with its new 12-speed design is the result of painstaking studies into hand ergonomics carried out in the Campy Tech Lab to ensure that, together with positioning of the downshift lever, the cyclist has an intuitive, practical, comfortable "control center".
Multi-Shifting technology, with a single action of the lever, is now applied to the entire 12-speed cassette. You can personalize your new Super Record EPS with the MyCampy app to shift continuously up or down by a maximum of 11 sprockets with a simple click. Again developed thanks to close collaboration between Campy Tech Lab and pro cyclists sponsored by Campagnolo, Multi-Dome technology has achieved the perfect balance between force used and tactile feedback, allowing cyclists to feel when a gear shifts. The Ergopower controls also offer the cyclist total control over how the transmission works thanks to the MODE button (found immediately behind the downshift lever on both right and left-hand controls). The MODE button lets the cyclist check battery charge, make accurate adjustments to gears or derailleur (even while pedaling) and carry out any kind of diagnostic check.
In the same way as the front derailleur, the rear one also exploits many developments achieved for its mechanical 12-gear predecessor. The same 45° trajectory angle corresponds to a new change of position that electronically improves chain engagement specific for each sprocket. Better power transmission and less wear and tear of consumer transmission components are just two of the advantages of the positioning of this new rear derailleur with respect to the cassette. Compatible with the two 11-29 and 11-32 cassettes, the two pulley wheels have 12-tooth design and the 72.5 mm derailleur cage ensures perfect performance. The slimmer, sturdier structure of the resistant derailleur cage gives more space between the derailleur and the spokes, making it easier to adjust. Moving the chain onto 12 sprockets in the cassette calls for greater precision, given the increased number of sprockets in the same space. The firmware not only manages this task efficiently and quickly, but the front and rear actuators do their job using the most powerful motors available on the market. Built with materials such as aluminum, ultra-lite technopolymer and long-fiber carbon, the EPS rear derailleur has been built to meet Campagnolo standards in terms of extreme durability, precision and reliability, despite weighing only 234 g.
In-depth study by the Campagnolo technical staff for development of the new shape of the cage on the 12-speed mechanical front derailleur is now also applied to the new electronic version, guaranteeing fluid, efficient, reliable shifting. Thanks to the inner semi-cage in aluminum and the single-piece outer semi-cage in carbon fiber, the Super Record EPS front derailleur delivers maximum stiffness and efficiency when shifting.
Its cutting-edge mechanical structure teams with the sophisticated intelligence of the interface and the Power Unit and the precision of the derailleur motor allows the chain to move immediately and fluidly on the chainrings, even under maximum load.
The new Power Unit, its fairly slender shape making it compatible with all the seat posts on the market, is quick to fit with one of the two different adaptors, the choice of which will depend on the size of the post. Even longer life for this, the sector’s leading battery, thanks to a 10% increase in its charge capacity, meaning it rarely needs charging.
All communication between the Ergopower control levers and the front and rear derailleur components becomes a specific action thanks to the new interface. The V4 version not only receives the electronic impulses and sends them to the front and rear derailleurs; thanks to its two internal aerials, with both Bluetooth Low Energy and ANT +, it can also communicate in real time with a vast range of external devices, ranging from phones to bike computers, through to any other electronic device used by the cyclist.
The V4 version also enables automatic shifting once a set gear inch ratio has been reached following the gear change. The option can be selected from the “MyEPS” session in the MyCampy App.
There is a now a new internal interface available for new Super Record EPS groupsets that can be mounted either on the right-hand end of the handlebar or inside the down tube on specifically designed frames. The new Super Record™ 12x2 Speed crankset: an intense concentration of innovation that results in the greatest possible stiffness and precision in derailing, whilst providing a dedicated aerodynamic “super design”.
The new carbon fibre Super Record™ 12x2 Speed crankset has been made lighter on the inside through Campagnolo Hollow Technology, which uses the Ultra-Torque bracket system with a titanium axle to transfer all of the force the athlete applies to the pedal to the drivetrain. The new Super Record™ 12x2 Speed crankset can be installed on any type of frame, whether or not it is being used with disc brakes because it optimises the chain line on the frame with a rear hub flange measuring 130, 135 or 142 millimetres, without affecting the Q factor, which remains constant at 145.5 millimetres thanks to the new hand crank design.
The use of ceramic Cult bearings leads to obtaining the smooth ride that the Campagnolo brand is known for. The innovative design of the outer chainring ensures faster, quieter derailing owing to the contoured pin. The symmetrical design of the inner chainring teeth allows improved stability with chain crossovers. The double wheel sizing standards (112 and 145 millimetres) combined with the eight fixing screws, optimises weight and stiffness through the increased use of carbon fibre.
The varying number of pins for each of the three chainring combinations (34/50, 36/52, 39/53) facilitates upshifting due to the optimised free strokes associated with each combination. The special drains on the inside of the outer chainrings optimise performance when downshifting in dead spots.
New Super Record™ 12 Speed sprocket cassettes: innovation which gives the user great advantages, thanks to the matching dimensions and complete compatibility with wheels and frames.
The rider has always been Campagnolo’s focus, and the goal has always been facilitating their performance; making the impossible possible. Adding an additional sprocket might seem simple, however we have not only succeeded in maintaining the same footprint, but also improving the component’s performance and durability, which was a tricky challenge!
The new Super Record™ 12 Speed sprocket sets feature thinner sprockets, tighter spaces and space-saving dimensions that are the same as those of the 11 Speed sprockets, meeting everyone’s needs with three 11/29, 11/32, 11/34 cassettes (the 11/34 cassette is compatible with the mechanical Super Record ™ and Record ™ groupsets.) The addition of the twelfth sprocket allows a linear upshift or downshift by a single tooth, up to the seventh gear, allowing the cyclist to find the perfect ratio for any situation.
In addition, the closer sprockets ensure faster, quieter and more precise shifting thanks to the special tooth design and surface treatment which guarantees a longer life span. The 6 larger sprockets are also available in two single-piece steel triplets, to avoid energy loss. Mounting the cassettes is easy thanks to matching-thickness spacers.
New Super Record™ 12 Speed chain: slim, robust, smooth and precise.
The chain, in all its apparent simplicity, plays a critical role in the cyclist's safety and in optimizing the entire transmission mechanism. The new Super Record™ 12 Speed chain also had to be redesigned from scratch to work with all the other new transmission components. Therefore, the first and most important objective was reducing its overall dimensions. Its width is now 5.15 millimetres, thanks to the new pins which are perfectly aligned with the links’ outer surfaces.
The second objective was safeguarding its performance. This was achieved thanks to the Ultra-link system that makes the chain safe and durable, and a special treatment that guarantees extreme smoothness and precision shifting.
Maximum performance, steep slopes and high speeds are manageable and attainable only when armed with total safety and confidence in powerful, modulable braking.
The new Super Record™ brakes ensure the shortest braking distance and continuous total control of the braking power transmitted thanks to the new Super Record shifting system and Campagnolo's proven experience in brake block compounds.
Campagnolo® developed the Dual Pivot fulcrum system because the Super Record users demand exceptional braking performance. The titanium screws also enable you to reach a level of weight and aesthetic impact on par with Super Record standards.
Campagnolo strives to always offer the best solutions, no matter what frame or tyre the cyclist has chosen.
As manufacturers begin to develop frames and fork designs that take advantage of the aerodynamic gains of direct mount brakes, the Campy Tech Lab™ has worked to make new Campagnolo Direct Mount brakes that can guarantee the Campagnolo quality and performance standards.
Through the self-balancing design, this new braking system by Campagnolo provides a completely symmetric and efficient brake application.
In addition to pure performance, a great deal of attention was given to ease of use and adjustment. The goal was to guarantee that the Campagnolo brake would be both easier to fit and intuitive and simple to adjust compared to any model available. That was made possible through the stiff structure positioned in the rear part of the brake, enabling rapid fitting that does not require external brake boosters, even on the weakest chainstays.
The Ultra-Torque system aluminium cups ensure maximum fluidity of movement and robustness for the bottom bracket axis. Available in eight different standards, to fit all frames on the market.
